Democrat Pecantte-Burton, 41, will be running against incumbent Judge Lori Landry.
She has amassed 14 years of courtroom experience on the opposite side of the bench with law firms and Hester, Pecantte-Burton & Waters as well as Pecantte-Burton & Burton, where she currently works along side her husband, Lynden Burton.
She gained prior courtroom experience as clerk for Judge Porter in New Iberia and the late Judge Carl Williams in St. Martinville.
Pecantte-Burton is a 1984 graduate of Mount Carmel Academy. She earned a bachelor’s of arts degree from Louisiana State University and a juris doctor degree from Southern University Law Center in 1993.
She is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Jeanerette and Delta Sigma Theta Sorrority.
She has two sons — Lynden II and Landon.
