Police Chief Neal Lartigue said several businesses have been entered recently, and if anyone has any information regarding these incidents, they are encouraged to contact the Ville Platte Police Department at 363-1313.

Lartigue said these businesses were entered during the early morning hours before daylight. Burglaries were reported earlier this week and on Thursday and Saturday mornings.

The department also asks residents to secure their valuables in their vehicles. Several vehicle burglaries have been reported over the last few months. Items of value, like purses, hand-held games and other electronic devices and money, are being taken in these burglaries.

Chief Lartigue asked residents to take their valuables out of their vehicles. He said items of value should not be left in the car, but if something must be left in the vehicle, please try to put it out of sight.

If anyone sees any suspicious person around parked vehicles, they are encouraged to contact the department. Please remember to give a detailed description of the person and the location. The public is one of the biggest assets in fighting crime.
