A routine traffic stop early Tuesday morning turned into a court date for a group of young men from Basile and Eunice.

A vehicle was pulled over by a patrolling officer who noticed erratic driving.

The officer found more than just an allegedly impaired driver.

Chance Bushnell, 20, of 128 Paul Bellow Road, Basile, was charged with DWI. And because a juvenile was in the vehicle he was charged with contributing to delinquency.

Also charged with contributing were:

Jabel Stancil, 2221 Stagg Ave., Basile;

Michael D. Fontenot, 19, 3321 Second, Basile;

Simon P. Reed, 2029 West Second, Basile;

Christopher B. Fontenot, 17, 3321 Second, Basile;

Kelley Myers, 18, 1189 Hwy. 13 North, Eunice.

Stancil was also charged with possession of marijuana.

Bushnell was jailed; the others were given a summons for City Court.

The juvenile was released to guardians.
