St. Martinville — A former employee of the St. Martinville Nursing Home was arrested after a chain of incidents led the police to her front door.

Brandie Perrodin, 24, and boyfriend Lamont Wilson, 25, were both charged with crimes against the elderly, monetary instrument abuse and forgery said Chief Administrative Officer Todd D’Albor. But Perrodin also faces charges of simple burglary of a vehicle and theft under $500.

Perrodin allegedly stole a check from an elderly woman vehicle while she was visiting a friend at the nursing home. Wilson then attempted to cash the check at a local bank where bank officials refused to cash the stolen check.

Not having succeeded with the devious plan, Perrodin then stole a cellular phone from a fellow employee of the nursing home only to arrested when calls were traced to St. Martinville residents and businesses.

Police arrested both Perrodin and Wilson on Monday, Oct. 22 at her residence at Chateau Martin Apartments.

D’Albor said Perrodin also has several warrants out for her arrests for Iberia and St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Offices and the Lafayette City Marshal.

The two are currently being held in the St. Martin Parish Correctional Facility. Perrodin's bond is set for $19,000; Wilson's is set for $65,000.
