Cutting is easy

Editor, The Eunice News:

In the Sept. 21 Eunice News, a couple of writers commended the Mayor for reducing the city’s expenses. But any fool can reduce expenses by cutting services. The challenge is to reduce expenses while maintaining the same level of services.

It now appears that the Mayor may be doing the opposite, that is, reducing services while increasing expenses. Some of his ill-advised and arbitrary actions may result in lawsuits and fines that will increase the city’s expenses.

When you are conducting the public’s business, it is necessary to follow required procedures and to document everything that has been done. No one is above the law.

No apology needed

Editor, The Eunice News:

In response to “A Name Change” -- you need not apologize for Ruby’s Cafe, because you no longer own the restaurant or the name. You sold it and were paid very well for it.

When you sell something, you no longer own it. Being a citizen of Eunice and the United States of America, I have the right to voice my concerns, opinions and beliefs and I am confident enough to stand on my own two feet and voice those concerns.

I feel I have done nothing to offend the Matt family, much less anyone else. I support the idea of Eunice First and will continue to support them.

We must reclaim our city and do whatever it takes to improve our city.

To “whom it may concern” some of us have trouble moving on with our lives and live with regrets and jealousy, where as in fact the end result is self destruction.

Since I am the owner of Ruby’s Cafe, I do not need anyone’s permission or agreement on anything concerning my place of business.

Ruby’s Cafe
