St. Martinville — St. Martin Sheriff's Deputies arrested Andy Gilbert for attempted first degree murder in connection with a shooting that occurred Saturday, Dec. 6 in rural St. Martin Parish.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting on Steven Wiltz Road, northwest of St. Martinville.
Deputies learned that the victim was shot four times while at his residence. Detectives conducted an investigation and a suspect was determined.
Gilbert, 29, of St. Martinville, was identified as being the shooter. He was arrested this afternoon (Friday, Dec. 12) and booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center for attempted first degree murder. Further arrests in reference to this incident are pending.
