Farmers elected to the Committee in Evangeline Parish were: Charles Blyn Rozas, Joseph Gregory Tate and Hurley Mose Jr. These persons assume office January 1, 2009.
“FSA County Committees are charged with the local administration of national farm programs which includes commodity price support loans and payments; conservation programs; incentive, indemnity and disaster payments for some commodities; and emergency programs,” Ms. Tortorich said.
An organizational meeting to elect the chairperson and vice-chairperson will be conducted at the first County Committee meeting in January 2009.
Ms. Tortorich pointed out that last year over 150 farmers - about 20 percent of all farmers in the Parish took part in one or more of the programs administered by the FSA Committees.
