At the Rotary Club's regular weekly meeting, members are asked to contribute to a “pig” (which is actually a huge LSU cup), that is passed around during lunchtime. For the special meeting last week, members were asked to “feed the pig” an extra portion, and members responded generously by digging deep into their pockets.
A special thanks goes out to Program Coordinator Randy Olson, Rotary President Pres Kennedy, David Thornton, Chairman of Rotary's Community Service Committee, and VooDoo owner Jaime Avila, who provided the meal at free of charge. Dick Findlay, of the Zachary Food Pantry, was presented with a check for $683. These funds will be used to purchase food items for distribution to needy citizens of Zachary.
Anyone interested in donating to the Zachary Food Pantry may contact Pres Kennedy at the Bank of Zachary or any Zachary Rotarian.
The Rotary motto “Service Above Self” conveys the humanitarian spirit of the organization’s more than 1.2 million members. Since being established in 1941, the Rotary Club of Zachary has endeavored to live up to this motto.
