
James “Jim” Hugh Craig, Jr. was born on August 22, 1926, and went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, after a brief illness in Spring, Texas.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served from 1943 to 1946.
His love of airplanes led him to work for Eastern Airlines. He then later became a travel agent to various agencies, including Malcolm Travel.
Visitation at Wilbert Funeral Home in Port Allen was held Friday, Feb. 20, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Brusly was on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 1 p.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
He will be greeted in heaven by his loving wife of 49 years, Kate Craig; parents, James Hugh and Myrta Fair Bradbury Craig; younger brother, Richard Turner Craig; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lanius and Florence Durbin; brothers-in-law, Lee Rife, Ray Theriot, James Peace and Raymond LeBlanc; and sisters-in-law, Barbara Brock and Lola LeBlanc.
He is survived by his children, Jimmy and wife Celine Craig of Brookhaven, Miss., Kim and husband Clifford Jones of Baton Rouge, and Jan and husband Bill Gregory of Spring, Texas; grandchildren, Joey and wife Amanda Douglas, Chad Douglas, Kaylan Landry, Austin, Allyssa, Alex, Cristina and Carley Craig, and Rachel Gregory; great-grandchild, Cullen Douglas; loving brother, Robert “Bob” and wife Grace Craig; loving sister, Fair and husband Frank Hash of Rayne; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Rife of Ferriday, Flo Sedita, Cora Therior, Larry and Patricia Durbin, Terry and Steve Guidry of Brusly, Pee Wee Peace of Friendswood, Texas, Butch and Kay Durbin of San Diego, and Carson Brock of Tampa, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Pallbearers were Chad Douglas, Joey Douglas, Austin Craig, Ryan Craig, Craig King, Barry Milligan, Reggie Milligan and Bobby Craig.
Honorary pallbearers were Bo King, Ed Milligan, Steve Guidry, Carson Brock, Butch Durbin, Larry Durbin, Frank Hash and Jim Rack.
