MARGARET REED FONTENOT

September 15, 1925 - February 27, 2009

Funeral services will be held for Margaret Reed Fontenot, 83, of Ville Platte, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 1 p.m., Monday, March 2. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum.

Ms. Fontenot died at 2:50 a.m., Friday, February 27, 2009, at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Pine Prairie. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include two sons, Robert M. Fontenot and his wife, Cindy, of Pueblo, Colorado, and Joseph A. Fontenot of Ville Platte; one daughter, Patricia Flynn and her husband, Jimmy, of Ville Platte; three brothers, Hampton Reed and James Reed, both of Ville Platte, and Clinton Earl Reed of Texas; two grandchildren, Katie Landry and her husband, Steve, and Jamie Flynn and his wife, Kellie; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hampton and Elta Guillory Reed; her husband, Joseph W. Fontenot; and one great-grandson, Ian Landry.

Visitation will be held today, March 1, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., with a rosary being recited at 6 p.m., and Monday, March 2, from 8 a.m. until the time of services.

Father Gene Tremie will officiate.

SHIRLEY MAE SMITH

October 31, 1937 - February 26, 2009

Funeral services were held for Shirley Mae Smith, 71, of Ville Platte, at the Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Ville Platte at 2 p.m., Friday, February 27. Burial followed in the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Mrs. Smith died Thursday, February 26, 2009, at Ville Platte Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Reinel Smith of Ville Platte; three daughters, Sandra Fontenot and her husband, Johnny, Becky Fontenot and her husband, Jeff, and Myra Roberie and her husband, Mitch, all of Ville Platte; one brother, Gilton LeJeune of Eunice; four grandchildren, Brock Fontenot, Jesse Fontenot, Brett Fontenot and Payton Roberie; one great-grandchild, Natalie Fontenot; and two step-great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Paige Tyler.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Lillian Guillory.

Father Mario Romero and Brother Leon Terrell officiated.
