In the initial shooting, which led to the death of Eric Beverly, of Crowley, it appears as though the assailant was awaiting the victim as he was shot multiple times as he was walking to his car at approximately 10:10 p.m. Friday evening on the 400 block of North Ave E. Beverly succumbed to his wounds Sunday morning. No suspects have been arrested as of yet, however, detectives with the Crowley Police Department are following up on leads.
It was Crowley’s first murder of 2009.
In what is believed to have been to have been a retaliatory strike, another shooting took place at approximately 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning on the 600 block of 2nd St. No one was injured in the Saturday morning shooting which was a drive-by style attack. The Crowley Police Department have arrested the person believed to be responsible for the Saturday morning shooting. The suspect is identified as Frandon F. Beverly, 21, who is a relative of the victim. He was charged with Aggravated Assault by Drive-By Shooting. Beverly’s bond has been set at $100,000.
The Crowley Police will be releasing other information as soon as it becomes available.
