April 18, 2007 - The Amite Tangi Digest won nine awards at the annual LPA Convention. Dakota Distefano, Roseland was recognized for his academic achievement by the US Achievement Academy. Kimberly Pikes completed USMC Recruit Training. Loranger High seniors Brittany Constantine, Tawnya Long placed in writing competitions at SLU's English Day. Two new Amite Chamber members are Trudy Case and Pastor Edna Gray.

April 21, 2004 - Natalbany Creek Campground held its grand opening. Peoples Bank President Russell Conger was named to the Tangipahoa Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau's Board of Directors. Christina Givens opened her dental office at 200 NE Central.

April 21, 1999 - Judge E. B. Dufreche was honored for his 40 years of service on the Tangipahoa Parish Library Board. Ray Edgar Smith, Jr. was named to the Nationwide Registry of Who's Who in Executives in Business. He is the President of Smitty's Supply. Shirley Wright was honored by and named Outstanding Club Member by the Shiloh Homemakers. Amite High's golf team won five matches.

April 19, 1978 - Sam Rowe was elected as judge of the 21st Judicial District. Mrs. C. H. (Cricket) Brumfield was honored at Amite Rotary's 50th Anniversary and was made a Paul Fellow. Sandra Johnson, SLU freshman was among 13 students in the straight "A"'s club. Gale's Hair Dressing is now at 103 E. Mulberry.

April 22, 1949 - Pvt. Joseph Perkins has recently left Company M, 24th Infantry, now stationed at Camp Gifu, Japan. B. B. Taxi Cab has 24 hr. service. Call 5731, day or 6945, night. Russell Williams, LSU was initiated into Epsilon Pi Tau, newly organized industrial educational honor fraternity. "The Loves of Carmen" with Rita Hayworth is playing at The Amite Theatre. The new Plymouth sedan is on display at the O.K. Body Shoppe.
