According to State Police, Cherish D. McConn, 26, was driving eastbound when her car swerved erratically, crossed the centerline and hit a westbound pickup.
The truck's driver, Ronald A. Cupit, 53, of Denham Springs swerved to avoid the collision but struck McConn's Cavalier in the passenger side front door.
A 17-year-old girl, Ramie R. Martinez of Greenwell Springs. sitting in the front passenger seat was killed, and a second 17-year-old girl injured.
None of the car's occupants was wearing seat belts, officers said.
Cupit and his five-year-old son received minor injuries.
Upon release from the hospital, McConn will be charged with Reckless Operation, Driving While Impaired, Vehicular Negligent Injuring, and Vehicular Homicide, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, No Driver’s License and No Seat Belt.
