Already winners in life by their choice of careers, teaching school at Zachary High, the couple's win comes at a perfect time.
They had already begun looking for a new home after the birth of their son, Carson, who was born last December. Just hours before they were informed of the win, the Southalls had been house hunting. The miraculous call ended their search.
"This is such a blessing for us," Megan said. "I just can't believe it!"
The 2,309 square-foot home will provide the young family room to grow, Megan added.
The couple plans to move into the home a soon as possible. The Southalls will move into their new home after they find a buyer for their current residence, Ryan said.
The home, assessed at a value of $354,000, is the ninth home raffled by the Capital Region Builders Association and the Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital.
This year's builder was Robert Carroll of Edward Carroll Construction, LLC, and Capital Region Builder’s Association. The land for the home site was donated by PLECO (Ron Babb, Edward Carroll and Paul Carroll), the developers of Audubon Lakes Subdivision.
Over $670,200 was raised by this year's Children's Miracle Mansion Campaign for Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital, according to the OLOL Foundation.
