I am a Native of Zachary, and now reside in New York City. I was phoned this morning, and told about the passing of Mayor John Womack. My heart goes out to his family and friends, as Mr. John had many friends, known, and unknown, and was loved by all!
Your article about Mr. John, really tells a wonderful short version of a really lengthy story, about a man with a Huge Heart. Mr. John really did go/went above, and beyond “the call of duty” in every position that he held in Zachary, including, but not limited to, Police Officer/Chief and Mayor. His dedication to every aspect of his jobs and to his family and friends is/was remarkable. Mr. John deserves much respect and gratitude for everything that he undertook! What an awesome Gentleman he was, and will be missed by all those that knew him!
I last saw Mr. John and Ms. Terry in 2000, while at a First Baptist Church service. He and Ms. Terry sat behind me, and after years of not seeing them--I was able to greet them and shake their hands. Mr. John and Ms. Terry looked and spoke just as I knew them from childhood. What a wonderful couple they were, and so dedicated to all that they did!
Mr. John and Ms. Terry will be missed! May their memories and legacy of such hard work and community dedication live forever!
