The Louisiana Board of Massage Therapy serves to regulate and license massage therapists who wish to practice in Louisiana.
According to the statute, the governor appoints seven members, five of whom are licensed massage therapists, nominated by professional massage therapy associations. Two lay members who are unaffiliated with the massage therapy industry are appointed from a list submitted by professional massage therapy associations.
Appointments to the Louisiana Board of Massage Therapy:
Tina Elwood, of Baker, is the owner of The Massage Center & Day Spa. Elwood will be appointed to serve as a licensed massage therapist nominated by professional massage therapy associations, as required by statute.
Mary Donker Syvertsen , of Harvey, is the owner of the Center for Pain Relief in New Orleans and is the former president of the American Massage Therapy Association. Syvertsen will be reappointed to serve as a licensed massage therapist nominated by professional massage therapy associations, as required by statute.
