A day was set aside this summer for Keller-Williams agents across the United States and Canada to give back to the communities in which they live and also work.

The Zachary Market Center chose to do some landscaping and yard work for the Parker House in Baton Rouge in May.

The Parker House, run by Volunteers of America, is a Christian based organization that provides residential treatment 24/7 for 10 children, ages 3-13. Care is provided to children who have been abused, neglected, and/or abandoned, and placed in the care or legal custody of the State. Parker House also takes care of children who have a need for foster care.

In early June, Parker House will be hosting an open house welcoming families who are interested in giving these children a safe and happy home environment.

Two homes can be found on the property, one serves as the operational center, and the other, larger home is for the children to reside.

The KW agents trimmed hedges, cleared weeds from existing beds, built new flower beds near the entrance and hung hanging baskets for one of the homes. It was a day of hard work and fun, and the staff was thrilled with the results. The KW agents will complete work on the second home and plan to help out annually with "Kids Day" coming up in June.

Keller Williams would like to thank several local businesses for their donations and all who were involved. The Coca-Cola Plant in Baker donated two banners, soft drinks and water. Zachary Home Depot donated plants, and Lowe's at Cortana pitched in with plants and potting soil. The Walmart at Cortana gave potting soil. Papa John's donated pizza for the workers, and Fruitland on Airline gave a crate of fruit for the children.
