A retired heavy equipment operator and member of Local 406, he passed away at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at his home. He was 75, a resident of Baker and a native of Washington Parish. In his younger years, he enjoyed farming, raising cattle and watermelon. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until religious service in the chapel at 11 a.m., conducted by Brother Tony Spell. Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Survived by his daughter, Connie Sue Bennett Dupuy, of Baker; three sisters, Earline Sharp, of Walker, Willie B. Shillings, of Mount Hermon, and Lynell Thoele, of Slidell; brother, Aaron "Buster" Bennett, of Mount Hermon; five granddaughters, Brandi Bennett and Jeremy Cleaver, Kriston Dupuy, Erin and husband Dennis Ray Meyn, Dana Bennett and Gary Baham, and Lacey Evans; and two great-grandsons, Justice Cleaver and Blake Meyn. Preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Doris Annie Bennett; daughter, Sheila Bennett McLellan Evans; and two sons, Norman and Glynn Bennett. Pallbearers will be Tommy and Michael Williston, John McClendon, Ricky Runnels, Steven Bell and Darrell Bennett. Honorary pallbearers are Monroe O'Neal, Hugh Carter, Chad Carter, Kelly Lewis and Mr. Bowman.
